About the course

Mechanical engineering is one of the core branches of engineering. It practically interfaces with all branches of engineering. There is hardly any product which does not need mechanical engineering to plan, design, provide facility, produce and control the quality. The branch, therefore, has continuous demand whether the product is an electronic gadget, electrical energy and telephone instrument and petrol infancy. The aspect of maintenan ce is also dealt by mechanical engineering.

Student Role The course curriculum of Mechanical Engineering includes fundamentals of Thermodynamics, Kinematics of Machines, Machine Design and CAD, Mechanics & Material Science of Engineering Materials, Energy Machines, Manufacturing Processes, Fluid Mechanics, Simulation & Modelling, Production planning & Control Engineering, Automobile & Nuclear Power Engineering, Heat & Mass Transfer Processes, Industrial Tribology. The main objective of this course is to provide a student with an opportunity to apply fundamental principles so that he/she may become a solution provider for a specific problem.

A six week Industrial Training after 4th and 6th semesters and Minor/Major projects in 7th and 8th semesters provide and exposure to latest technologies used in Mechanical related fields.

In addition, the students are taught about the Moral Values and Engineering Ethics and Oral Presentation Skills. The students also gain the knowledge of Environmental Studies, Economics and Management Studies.

Major Facilities The department have well equipped labs of Kinematics of Machines, Strength of Materials, CAD & CAM, Fluid Mechanics, Energy Conversion & Thermodynamics, etc. We have highly qualified and experienced faculty having both academic and industrial experience.
